Well known Filipino columnist and one time president Cory cabinet member Antonio Abaya is a Vespa scooterist, an Olympic sailor (that's another story) and a world traveler. He once embarked on a solo trip around Western Europe on a brand new 125cc Vespa in 1961 and wrote about his sojourn for The Sunday Times magazine December that same year. He bought the wasp for $300.00++. Cool! He eventually wrote a book about this trip...
What exact model vespa he had on that trip, he did not specify in the book but he managed to include a lone picture of him on his wasp. Looking at the front fender, I think it's a Vespa U Model. Love that style and look! Here he is on the first page:

He rode for 17,752 kilometers over 13 countries in six months. His adventure during those times, where there were no cell phones nor internet yet, and I dont know if the credit card has been invented by then already, was phenominal. As a modern vespa scooterist, I know how the old 6 volt-contact point electrical system of the vintage Vespas become inefficient at some point in use. Well done sir. Sail the Wolrd

Thousands of sailors celebrated last weekend, September 1 & 2, 2007, one hundred years of the International Sailing Federation (ISAF). It was encouraged that sailors from all levels, clubs, classes and associations all over the world come out on the water to honor the occasion. Pretty straightforward idea of a global party, isn’t it?

In the Philippines, several yacht clubs have signified to join in the celebration. One notable inland club was Taal Lake Yacht Club where I went to give my support. It was fun sailing indeed. A number of Hobie 16s, Toppers, A Hobie Bravo and of course my 2 Streakers sailed along the lakeshore of Talisay, the general plan. Then we all rounded Tin Can, the club’s rescue boat, with Cherry and Hermie strategically placed onboard to take pictures of this momentous occasion. Oh and Gaucho the dog was onboard too. It was very nice to see old friends and meet new sailors. I enjoyed eating the food of Doc Susan Cruz, again.

Race 6 of the Louis Vuitton Cup Semis endS with ITALY's LUNA ROSSA CHALLENGE throwing out USA's only hope BMW ORACLE RACING. While cup host, Valencia's favorite DESAFIO ESPANIOL 2007 pulls a second upset to EMIRATES TEAM NEW ZEALAND and maybe do a hat trick and win 3 more to buy a ticket to the final.

Luna Rossa dominated the series with rounding all the marks ahead of the US team on all the 6 races. This means a lot for any racing team. The Spaniards are also consistent in a sense that they have been winning all their races during the weekend. Being true to their nickname "weekend warriors". They however trail the NZ 4 to 2 points.

I prefer that the Kiwis meet with Italy on the final. It'll be like the remake of the 2000 America's Cup defense. Only this time the Latinos seem to be stronger...

After five races each in the semis, it appears the Italian-Luna Rossa Challenge and Kiwi-Emirates Team New Zealand are dominating the best of nine series of the Louis Vuitton Cup. Follow the live audio feed and internet TV tonight (Manila time) to find out if it's the last race for BMW Oracle Racing and Desafio Espaniol. Or can they take the semis all the way to race 9 to upset the leaders?

BMW ORACLE Racing and Desafío Español must win their next four races if they hope to advance to the Final of the Louis Vuitton Cup. That’s the grim reality facing both teams after they lost their matches on Saturday on the waters off Valencia, in front of an enormous weekend spectator fleet.

The Italian Luna Rossa Challenge came into today’s match having led BMW ORACLE Racing at every turning mark in their four contests to day. Under pressure to strike early, the skipper of the American team, Chris Dickson, found himself in trouble during the pre-start, eventually taking two penalties. With such a big disadvantage coming off the starting line, the American team could never get back into the race and Luna Rossa streaked to the win and a 4-1 series lead.

In the other match, Emirates Team New Zealand came off the starting line later and slower than Desafío Español. But a small right hand shift allowed the Kiwis to get their nose in front and they extended from there. The Emirates team leads the series 4-1.

The first team to win five races in each series will advance to the Final. Racing continues on Sunday.

Next week four remaining teams of the Louis Vuitton Cup Challenge will battle it out on the water where it counts. Two match sets of best of nine will decide who will be in the finals. The winner will have the right to challenge the America's Cup current holder Team Alinghi.

Emirates Team New Zealand skippered by Dean Barker vs Desafio Espaniol 2007 with world number 1 ranked helmsman Karol Jablonski. On the other course are BMW Oracle Racing with skipper Chris Dickson vs Luna Rossa Challenge with Francesco De Angelis behind te wheel of this Italian boat.

I just wish they show this on Philippine cable TV. Damn!

The match-race challenge to the 32nd America's Cup defence begins today. A prequel, actually the Louis Vuitton Cup Act 13, starts for the first time since 1852, with a fleet regatta. It will however resume to the terific match racing round robin in 16 April 2007. He're a few words from the huge link below...

"Racing in the Louis Vuitton Cup begins on Monday afternoon, with the first warning signal scheduled to fire at 14:05. 11 challengers from nine countries are racing for the right to battle Alinghi in the 32nd America’s Cup Match. On Saturday, the 11 skippers, along with Michel Bonnefous, the CEO of the organising body of the 32nd America’s Cup and Yves Carcelle, the President and CEO of Louis Vuitton Malletier, sat down with the media at the opening press conference.

Michel Bonnefous spoke of the success of the four-year programme of racing, with 13 Louis Vuitton Acts, which is a prominent feature of this 32nd America’s Cup. He said the event is expecting to welcome visitor number 2-million over this weekend preceding the Louis Vuitton Cup."

Pump up, big racing is about to begin.

Set at new venue, this regatta make hardcore sailors, who are usually grumpy after loosing a day's race, happy and somehow mezmerised at the tranquil beauty of the powder white sand beach and the laid back atmosphere of the island. No other regatta has this formulla. The organizers should take well note of the big potential of this unique sporting event.

Vespa sa Bora

This is Paulo. Boracay based, Italian and rides one of the only two Vespas in the island. His is a prestine Vespa PX150 with all the garnishings of a 1997 model. I spotted him by chance while taking a friend to a clinic (by the back road) who had a sailing related injury.

Big on Sailing

More than any sport, I am big on sailing. This summer, the season brings in the biggest sailing event in its history. And historic it is. For it only holds the record for the oldest trophy in the world.

It's the 32nd America's Cup season. It's been 5 years since the cup have been challenged. A match race of top sailors and cutting edge boat designs. Up Close Maiden HK

Hundred and fifteen feet in length, Frank Pong's Maiden Hong Kong is not your typical racing sailboat. I mean, take a look at the big disparity of a the 50ft+ Mandrake and Maiden above. Having the biggest IRC rating in the world, this boat is literally humongus and like a space ship on deck and down below, with the canting keel and all.

Another great regatta. Took this sneaky shot of Benj sailing low to pass Hi Fi up our stern. This was the 4th race of President's Cup, the regatta gave us fantastic close starts and strong winds exceeding 25knots. See more pics here.

Race Ready

The 3rd of March will be the start of a series of races-one long passage from Manila Bay to Boracay and 7 from the 15th President's Cup Regatta to be held for the very first time in Boracay.

Expect a good number of international yachts in this events for the island itself lures even the most critical of sailors in the region.

Boats such as the Karakoa, see embeded video below, will be competing. And I am looking forward to meet my team mates again.

The following scenes transpired in the last 24hours. - love saying that!
Actually these shots were taken last week in Dong's Scooter Center during a pre-ride meeting of a loose group of vintage Lambretta and Vespa owners. Discover the legend, the underground shop and loads of cool running vintage two wheelers never before seen in the internet.

Lined up for a rare photo shoot, these scoots ride daily and were all restored (save caramel) here in Dong's shop.

One of Ron "Saso" Soriano's Vespa GS150. These baby is all genuine down to the rear rack and other accessories. The Vespa APE on the right is Dong's storage cabinet. Yes, it's parked by the curb.

Fast and furious TOP GUN 200, its creators Eddie and Dong, and its owner, Jason Conde inspecting his steed. It's up for a much needed repainting after they have improved her power to 140KPH top speed.

In the coming days, I shall try to post pictures and notes of the 15th Asain Games to be held in Doha, Qatar. I am off to Qatar this afternoon to do race committee work on the Sailing Event. Like my stint in Sydney Olympics six years ago, this should be very very interesting and a lot of fun. I look forward to take you to this journey and document as much as I can for everyone who is curious to see this rare occasion.

Zamba in Zambales on Caramel

Last weekend, I was very fortunate to be invited by Ron Soriano, collector of all things vintage, including of course scooters, to a unigue ride up north to his beautiful rest house in San Antonio, Zambales. Realizing it was good opportunity to test my newly rebuilt Vespa, hence I happilly complied.

Ron's backyard. One has to see this house up-close to fully appreciate the work done to build it to his specs. The details and history of every post, beam, grill, etc came from different old houses in the vicinity...

Limay, Bataan. Kahit mainit pose pa rin para sa camera. :)

En route to Mount Samat Shrine, our "detour educational stop". Lambrettas are fantastic specially when they are running and being used in rides like these.

But the best one is this genuine vintage 1961 LI150 Lambretta with a PM tune pipe and a new carb. Rusty, as we call it, is as authentic as a lammy can get.

Saving Private Roma

Many a restorer will agree that resorrecting a classic piece of engineering is organized chaos. Say for example this Vespa PX150, a classic Italian scooter that came out in the Philippines in the 90's. Working on putting her back together took one expert mechanic, two assistants and one supervisor running around our yard the whole of last Saturday. Preparation and cleaning took 2 days prior though.

When I found her, she was being riden by a cool 72 year old man in a not so appealling state. I mean, check out the fridge crate on the makeshift front rack, complete with costum crash guards, extended rear bumber and that towering backrest. KOOL!!! But see her upclose and the scoot had potential, very good potential!

She was completely intact in the mechanical department.
All the major body parts are present. Simply enough, all it needed was a straight forward paint job and a little detailing work on her parts.

Fresh from the oven and into our yard to put her back together again. Had all the bits and pieces cleaned off of dirt, grime and sprayover from the shabby paint job of the previous owner.

Taken from the morning after...almost done! Looking forward to riding her down MetroWalk on a Vespa Night Out...

At the intersection of Pasay Road and Pasong Tamo in Makati, neatly tucked in a Boys High School, a Printing Press and a Church, is a unique yet so very geniune Italian Canteen that serves good pizza, pasta and gelato. AMICI di DON BOSCO or Friends of Don Bosco, is an Italian restaurant opened in the 90's by Italian Salesian Priest Father Gainlugi Colombo. I still could not believe I found out about this cool place just two months ago.

Don't expect fine dining! Amici boasts reasonable prices but it's still a canteen after all, ...rather a great Italian canteen with a touch of Pinoy. The aroma of burning wood and the distnct smell of crisp pizza cooking in that specially made oven will hit you as you walk from the parking lot to it's back entrance. Prepare though to literally serve your self with, not just your food, but your plates, spoon and fork, your water, ice, everything. Yes, you thought right. It's self service to the bone. I like it! :)

Wends' best friend Architect Chiqui Tronco with Jamby, Jet and I enjoying our dessert. The espresso was great too! It will surely give Starbucks a run for thier dinero.

Step aside Haagen Daz, move over Ben and Gerry's, Amici's Gelato is all we'll ever want! For only P35 a scoot... oops, a scoop rather, and lots of flavors to choose from, it is for sure the best ice cream in Manila.

Speaking of Jim

Speaking of Jim Morrison, poet, song writer, vocalist and seldom sober lead singer of The Doors, died in Paris, France 34 years ago, today (actually tomorow yet, I just love saying that). His remains lie in an ancient cemetery were Chopin and an assortment of century old French Kings and Artists rest. In this blog though, are a few of my thoughts and remembrances of this musical genius and my last trip to Paris with my wife Wendy. Bonjour!

A bit disapointed when we found the gravesite...barricaded and off limits to visitors. Two French guards stand in the area to deter pilgrims from vandalizing his resting place. Or maybe they are simply fed-up with fans pouring drinks on top of Morrison's headstone. Apparently, his is the most visited grave of this prestigeous cemetery.

Underground is to London as Metropolitain is to Paris. The walls of Pere-Lachaise Cemetery at the back of Wendy and the subway's entrance. Morrison and Morrison. Check out the side mirror...

Just thought I'd share this with you. It was very nice to see something like this in the middle of the Eiffel Tower park - 'swimming in the fountain is allowed'! Back to Jim...

I didn’t realize, up until this-my latest scooter run, how enjoyable it is to ride in the pouring rain on a countryside road, like in Rizal and Laguna national hi-ways. These roads cover a big part of the north side of Laguna de Bay and, full of twisties with sweeping vistas like for one, the lake’s flat embankments. Fresh mountain air and clean rain water feels good to the bone. Here are some pics that will speak for it self. Click this link for the video too!
Take a good look at these guys above because this is the last time you'll see them with a "fresh-n-clean-straight-out-of-the-shower-look". Hehehe. By the way, big hello to Mang Gerry (5th from left) of Sta Rosa Laguna. Thanks for coming out and seeing us off. Next time, we will passby your place instead...

Halayhayin Point, I think, :) of Rizal. Just a few kilometers off Pililla is a viewpoint worth stopping twice or maybe more. It has a breathtaking 250 degree view of Laguna lake, pretty hard to ignore when you happen to pass this mountain road.

Same place from a different angle. Checkout the clouds on the mountain peak. The rain kept pouring but we still manage to stop, enjoy the view and eat pugo and chitcharon.

Leaving Pililla wet is the last thing in these guys minds...four of the five vintage Lambrettas rode with us in the rain. And here, they're enjoying it as much. Lammies!...now I know these classic scooters are not only cool to look at but are actually very dependable.

Gang of Fourteen at the ID6 Run

Just came home from the very first "Independence Day Rally to Sierra Madre and Back". A quick ride up and down the mountain ranges of "Bundok ng Susong Dalaga". Sierra Madre, part of this mountain range is a scenic get away and an easy ride even for newbie scooterists. The roads bank on the right curves and free of obstacles. No Jeepneys, Minibuses kahit tricycles.

A favorite stop among all motorists passing this route is this viewdeck of Garden Cottages Resort. To appreciate this spot more, click here to see the vid.

Here's a vespa accessorry you won't find anywhere anymore. Is it a whisky flask? No! A camel back? N0! (its not even a camel front!) A reserve petrol tank? Disco! That's right, its a nice flush type reserve gas tank designed by Piaggio for Vespa SS 90. Nice one Phil!

There are many scooter riding destinations out of Manila. None are better than the other but all are unique in their own right. Here in Calatagan, Batangas where the South China Sea bounds this great coastal Province rests a beatiful resort that has no name.

President's Cup Regatta Photo Ops

For days now, I am being grilled by friends and crewmates to show/send them pictures of the last regatta in Subic. Hence, here are some of them and more on the links below for your viewing pleasure. Watch out for the Russians...have a good feeling they'll be back next year.
Three, Two, One, Go! The countdown to the starting signal is one of the most spectacular sites in a regatta to spectators specially. This is the closest the competitors get to be on the water. After that the boats kinda separate to find their own clean air. Not in our case on the last day though...

The Russians have taken over the regatta...in THONGS! These guys are awesome. Cartwheelin Alex (on the helm) is their skipper with the most outgoing attitude. He's just full of wild antics. Cute daughter too. They came to Subic from the China Sea Race from HK yet before that, 2000+ nautical miles from north eastern Russia. See more thongs here.

I went to Metrowalk before Holy Week to meet my friends in High School (Above counter clockwise are; Lilian, Arnel, Joy, Jong and I). To my surprise, also found my good old scooter buddies hanging out on a Wednesday night instead of Tuesday like all the wasps use to do. Here are some of the pics for your perusal...

Enjoying a good hang with Gerry, Carol (fresh from the Hobie Challenge), Manolo, Jason, Charly and Gene. Why, because we had the whole of Metrowalk parking to ourselves. NO BIG BIKES that Wednesday. Maybe it is true...Wednesday is the new Tuesday for wasps and lammies.

Showdown on Subic Waters

Rockstars and Racer Chasers abound the 14th President's Cup Regatta in Subic Bay last week (18-21 April 06). All the attention went to Centenial and Karakoa on the final day when both boats, tied at four all, had no choice but to engage each other on the water...and ENGAGE they did! (pictured above are Karakoa far left, Drumstick and Madrake both from Hong Kong)

Being a crew of one of the top boats in the IRC division gave me a chance to be at ringside of one of the most spectacular tacking duels in all of the 14 years of the President's Cup. The whole fleet literaly came to a halt to watch us battle it out to the finish. Our skipper Olympic Silver Medalist Steve Benjamin and Centenial's Jamie Wilmot gave everyone an absolutely fantastic final day's race that will surely have a place in this regatta's history books.

It was indeed my priveledge to be on Karakoa. Big thank you to owner Ray Ordovesa for the opportunity. I look forward to see these guys in action again on the water. Check out cool pics and more stories here.

Vespa Rider Hurt in Roxas Blvd caught on Video

12 April 06 - I was tinkering with my video cam last Wednesday while watching the early news on GMA when the anchorman blurted out a "motorcycle accident in Roxas Boulevard involving a pedestrian and a certain, Cocoy Dalupan riding a Vespa... Hey wait! I know that guy! So as they say in the movies... "Keep the cam rolling!"

Let this be a reminder to all Scooteristas that somehow somewhere, there will always be a stupid pedestrian that will jump out from under a bush and cross any street, worse a hi-way with no pedestrian lane, and raise his hand to forcebly stop you even if your running 60 to 70 kph. "Bahala ka, basta tatawid ako kung saan at kelan ko gusto! Tabi dyan!"

For what it's worth, Cocoy showed exemplary manners on tape and showed the viewing public what a responcible rider he truly is. He was clad in proper safety armor, masked and wearing a proper helmet. That's the first thing my wife, Wendy noticed of him on TV. Sad he broke his right shoulder in the crash. But as of Saturday, Cocoy was on high spirits already when I called to check on him and ask for his permission to show this tape. Get well soon, Dude.

Vespa Manila Historia

Many a nights ago in a street corner somewhere in Manila, a simple and honest man named Julianito Montana, popularly known as "Mang Titing" labored on Lambrettas and Vespas with passion and vigor. His shop was informally named Scooter Center and eventually was moved to Cailles St, Bankal, Makati. The year was 1960 and these are some of his photos...

I can imagine how they marvelled at every new model that comes out in the market those days. Must be the same when we are in awe of the new LX, GT and Catalized PX models.

Fast forward to the millennium, now, today, Dong’s Scooter Center, still unregistered, is thriving in it’s own right. Without advertising campaigns, no email, no text nor forum promotions, this shop has succeeded with regular and loyal costumers despite sometimes, shabby work. Perhaps, it is a Montana charisma that draws scooterists, collectors and even newbies to this “underground layer”. Cheers mate!

Oars Up! - Dragonboats in Manila Bay

This just in. Wendy went to Baywalk Roxas Blvd this Saturday morning to watch cousin Pia in her very first Rowing competition. After several weeks of early morning practices, Pia is race ready, uniformed and raring to go.

Herewith are some nice shots and a short vid for you readers out there. Check this out specially if you have not seen a dragonboat regatta before.

What to do when you're in Bora?

Off we went on our ATV's to see the island. These clanky little quads are P1500 an hour and they can be worth it if you have a good guide. We had a blast. That's me with the mask and yellow tabo and Benj ahead of me following our guide.

The only way to get here is by an ATV or foot. The tricycles do not come up here. Sorry.

View from Mount Luho . This is the highest point of Boracay Island. A nice old local will greet and serve you with fresh buko juice cold and sweet.

Another Working Day Has Ended

The following are photos taken from our passage from Manila Bay to the Island of Boracay during a race with the same name. It took us 24 hours and some odd minutes nonstop. The fastest this author has been on this here sailboat called "Karakoa".

Caught a little sleep and woke up to this... It was almost six in the morning, Maestre de Campo East of Mondoro and the sunrise. We've been sailing for 16hrs straight. It was here too that we saw dolphins going south. Sorry, didn't get a shot.

Helming Karakoa is Steve Benjamin our fearless skipper who lead us all the way with an extra day to the most beatifull beach in the world.

Approaching the final mark on a beat, PNP water police escorts us like we're some kind of VIP rockstars. On the rail with me are Nick Craddock and Jelbin Ramos.

Philippine's premier offshore sailing regatta is on again. The 4th Standard Insurance-Smart Infinity Manila to Boracay Race will kick off at 2pm on Wednesday, 15Feb this year. If you are curius how offshore sailing is all about, visit this blog again for results and great interesting shots.

Discribed in its sailing instructions as "a 200 nuatical mile passage race from Manila Yacht Club to Boracay Island", this regatta has been, for three years in a row, well attended by local and international boats. Frank Pong of Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club is one of our regular participants. Every year his boat gets bigger and bigger. This year his latest latest Riechel Pugh maxi yacht - aptly named - "Boracay", is a hot favorite for line honors.

Our world famous Island is becoming a major destination not only to beach combers but to big international sailing events. It will not be a surprise if the prestigious China Sea Race and President's Cup Regatta be held here one of these years.

It's probably the best format for a regatta in the country now, add a few inshore races and you've got a formula for a potencially major tourist event that can be compared to Ko Samui Regatta of Thailand or Raja Muda of Malaysia.

12Feb06 Manila Bay - Our second practice for the big offshore this week. Here, an extra spinnaker pole is being taken out from below. It was an uneventfull day but a good workout all together because we got to sort our sail inventory and threw in couple pairs of tacks, spinaker peels and some jibes. Looking forward to our next and final practice Tuesday when Skipper Steve Benjamin arrives form the U.S.

"How's it going, Is it flowin?" Sure, you've just seen Jack Black in Kong, but you are probably not aware of his band Tenacoius D except if you've seen School of Rock. This duo, actually, rocks and mocks, anything and everything. My Biznitch is the Shiznitch, Tribute, Wonderworld are just a few of thier rock comedy opera. They sometimes cross the boarder of singing filthy words and cursing to much, but hey, its comedy and we can always filter words out in our mind to enjoy music and have fun, right? ...F#$k yeah!!!

20Nov05 - A day of giving and the chance to ride my scooter down South Luzon Express Way (SLEX). This is the 5th MAP Toy Run to Echanted Kingdon. Where six kind hearted Vespa riders took time off to share with needy kids. Hat-tip to you guys.

Ziggurat, SaGuijo and Sound

05Jan06 - It was an unexpected night of funk, bossa, jazz, whisky and curry in Makati last Thursday. This night out with family and friends was planned on a whim based on a frivoluos tip found in ShoutBox, a tag board in euroscoot.com, that "Jazz night is on SaGuijo". And since Londoners Dee and Pia are still home for the holidays, decided to put two together and let them experience a unique Filipino Bohemian evening. Good thing we were all free that evening.

Tigris and Euphrates is where Ziggurat is. What you say? Duon tayo kakain sa Ziggurat. This cozy little mideastern restuarant seemed to be the perfect entre to start a soulful night out. Relaxed, authentic, very very good curry and loads of pillows on the floor. Sitting downing sir? :)
You'll know if the food is very good when the people you shoot won't look at your camera. Above from left; Wendy, Pia and Dee. Center; Beef red curry, and nan topped with spicey veg and chicken. Below; the 3 happy eaters and our second course, mixed kebab and veggie couscous.

After that awesome dinner we arrived in SaGuijo early enough to get a good table and just in time to see the first band, JazzPhill Ensamble. They started with pieceful renditions of Brazzilian songs then...

Sound, not DSound of Europe, played awesome sets of original bossa/funk/jazz tracks. Their name does not give as much impact as their original music, too bad, but they do "sound" good to me mate! I was blown away specialy when they covered Space Cowboy by Jamiroquai. If you like Jay Kay, Steely Dan, and select funky 70's tunes from Sesame Street, you'll dig Sound.

This is the return of the space cowboy...

SaGuijo is definitely 'the' underground joint of the millenium in Metro Manila. Placed in two old sixties style apartment units in a quite street in San Antonio Village, Makati, Guijo Street, like Tigris and Euphrates are off the beaten path, not easy to find. But word comes fast and in the island of music loving Pinoys, places like these are always and somehow known instantly without advertisement.

New Year's Eve Sailing Holiday

Tradition dictates, at least in my experience, that every "after-Christmas-before-New-Year" week, we take to the country side and have a year-end vacation . Had not planned anything this last holiday but was pleasantly surprised to be invited by the Tomeldens to join them for an overnighter in a Tagaytay villa. Since Taal Lake Yacht Club is a stone's throw away from Tag., I decided to pull a trailer with me and bring a dinghy. The result was a great last two days of the year 2005.

Love being at the helm. Underway this 10 yr old "sports cruiser" still feels like a million bucks . Sweet. On board are Wendy, Pia, Marco, Joe and Marlon. Not shown is Dee, who clicked this shot . We cruised west of the lake where the town's got a simple quaint country feel to it. Pinoy na pinoy. Also rounded the small islands south near Makulot.

28Dec05 - I Scootered down Greenbelt early Wed evening to have dinner in 2 places at the same time. Hanep sa timing! Everybody knows it's typical during Christmas season to have parties happening at the same date. Rare though that it would happen in the same venue. So this was an interesting opportunity to meet 2 of my fav group of people in one evening. Below are photos of my quite holiday evening with old friends:

My HS dinner was at Big Buddha in Greenbelt3. Class of 1984 counterclockwise: Lilianne, Vren, Mira, Arnel, Carlos, Nestor and I. Why does it seem that the wemen in my batch are not aging as the men does.

At the other table in Good Earth Resto also in Greenbelt3, my other dinner party was happening too. Sailing buddies Vince, BP, Mari, Che and I having a breather after a good hearty meal.

Big boat sailors (and long time friends) Mari and Boy with Che of "Rojo" at Havana Cafe in Greenbelt. Scotch and Soda is good for the heart :)
